Tagger

Frog CMS now has its own tag management system called Tagger, this is a great plugin for every user of Frog CMS who likes to use tags to organise there work on their website.

Now at version 1.0.0 and finally out if beta stages, it is indeed very stable.

Welcome to the official homepage of Tagger Plugin.

What is Tagger?

Tagger is a tag system developed for a need that was there in the Frog CMS community. It allows you to manage your tagged pages in a easier way and to get the most out of tags.

How did Tagger come about?

Tagger started while searching the Frog CMS forum where i found a post where users were having problem categorizing their posts in a tag cloud format, soon after i started to develop Tagger and use the tags already provided by Frog CMS system but with more features and it was a nice plugin.

The tags idea was brought to light back in February of 2008, before the functionality was even fully implemented within Frog CMS.  The idea was put to the side due to this lack of functionality, but was brought back to centre stage at the end of June, 2008 and blossomed from there.  It was quickly picked up as a great idea by BDesign, easylancer, and mvdkleijn (in alphabetical order) on the Frog CMS forum and with much discussion between them and help from many others, Tagger was born in its early state at the beginning of July, 2008.

In mid-October, 2008, the plugin was brought back into the spotlight and needed updates to bring it up to speed with the quickly developing Frog.  mtylerb and easylancer began working together and fixed issues that had surfaced in the few months it had been around.  In mid-November, 2008, the plugin was finally ready for re-release!

When I list subpages of a page, how can I (with Tagger) devide subpages in Tags
e.g. First list subpages with tag ‘1st’, then list subpages with tag ‘2nd’

    Thanks in advance

Hi Jonas, you can get page by tags in Frog CMS besided tagger, you can check out the Tagger code and you will see i list the pages based on selected Tag. You could take that piece of code and modify it to your own extent. Tagger only extends Frog CMS core feature, I might write up a tutorial on how to achieve this later on.

    Hi,

The nice plugin, a must for my sites anyway, has a little bug that is very annoying.

    -1-

If I have a tag, say 9/11, and I click on that tag in the cloud, the page listing for that tag stays empty.
Frog (the mod-rewrite rule?) links it as ‘…/tags/911′. I would expect it to link to ‘…/tags/9-11′. If I change the URL manually, I get still nothing.

    -2-

If I have a tag with accents in the name, lets say ‘exposé’, I get the same problem, it leaves out the special character (’expos’), BUT, changing the URL manually to ‘…/tags/expose’, where I leave out the accent, it works!

As Dutch, German and French even more so, use quite some accented and special characters, it would be great if this could be fixed.

Nice plugin though, and the new version works nice in 0.9.5 latest SVN version.

Ok i have checked in the code to Github repo.

Wiag: I don’t think there is anyway for me to do the 9/11 scenario, because frog saves the tag as 9/11 and if I was to remove that for the url slug i would have to replace it again when the code searched the database and there is no way of knowing where the / came from.

URL Slug for 9/11 would be http://www.website.com/tag/911, but in db it is stored as 9/11 so when the tag page gets loaded it will search for 911 because of the slug, there is no way for me to find 9/11 because I have no reference to it. Tagger is only using what is already available in Frog CMS.

The version provided here is broken (404’s when clicking on “tagger” tab). There is a working version available from the mirror site:
